Bosses in Elden Ring are very strong enemies that make the game more difficult. Bosses appear all over the game, both in the open world and in traditional dungeon levels. Some have to be fought to move the story along, but most don't have to be. Each boss has its own set of moves, gear, and weaknesses and strengths against different types of damage and play styles. When a player beats a boss, they get more Runes than they would from regular enemies in that area. Many bosses also drop rare and/or completely unique weapons, armor, spells, and other items. This page has a list of every boss you'll face in the game.
ELDEN RING MAIN BOSSES LORE
The world of Elden Ring is the Lands Between, where Gods, monsters, people, and everything in between live. The Elden Ring, which was a physical representation of the world's basic rules, was broken. Its main pieces are now held by powerful Demigods, also called Shardbearers, who are the children of Gods and humans. Each of these powerful creatures is always trying to get all of the pieces of the Elden Ring and take control of it. Most of the main story Bosses in the game are these beings and their servants. Different parts of the Elden Ring gave these Demigods different powers, which changed and twisted their bodies and minds as they gave in to the Ring's corrupting influence. People who have been blessed by the Elden Ring often have a golden glow around them that can be seen in their eyes.
ALL ELDEN RING BOSSES
Bosses, unlike normal foes, do not respawn after being defeated, and their health bar and name appear at the bottom of the screen when they are battled.
TYPES OF BOSSES
There are three different kinds of bosses:
Field Bosses are optional enemies encountered while exploring The Lands Between. When murdered, these are at the lower tier of the Bosses hirearchy, and they normally provide a [Enemy Felled] screen.
Bosses from Greater Enemies can be discovered impeding progress or guarding crucial, powerful goods and locales. They are a step above Field Bosses, and can be identified by the prompt [Great Enemy Felled] when slain.
Elden Ring's primary bosses are Demigods, Lords, and Legends. These will provide players a reminiscence as well as one of the Elden Ring's 10 Great or Mending Runes. As a result, they are known as the "Shardbearers."
MANDATORY BOSSES
Only a barrier after the Draconic Tree Sentinel boss, which can only be lifted by obtaining 2 or more great runes, prevents a player from just disregarding every boss and strolling directly into Leyndell. Godrick the Grafted, Rennala Queen of the Full Moon, Starscourge Radahn, and Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy are all optional, but any two of them must be defeated to gain entry.
Because all of the shardbearers (except Radahn) have Bosses that must be defeated in order to access them, Leyndell requires a minimum of four Bosses to be reached (for example, defeat Radahn, Margit, Godrick and the Draconic Tree Sentinel). After defeating Fia's Champions, you can utilize the waygate in Prince of Death's Throne in Deeproot Depths to reach Leyndell, but you'll still have to battle at least two shardbearers (otherwise the waygate would be inaccessible and the message "You cannot use this without more Great Runes" is displayed).
The player has significantly fewer alternatives for skipping bosses once they reach Leyndell, as the subsequent areas cannot be entered without beating the respective Bosses.
