Elden Ring

Elden Ring is a Bandai Namco Entertainment-published open-world ARPG developed by FromSoftware. Hidetaka Miyazaki directed the game, which was made in collaboration with New York Times best-selling author George R. R. Martin, who created the Lands Between mythos. Elden Ring is playable on PC, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Playstation Series X, and Playstation 5. On February 25th, 2022, it was officially launched.

THE TARNISHED

"The Tarnished, will soon return," says a softly spoken, hooded woman in the official reveal trailer, which was shown at E3 2021. Who and what is The Tarnished, after all? Simply put, The Tarnished is you, the player. You are one of the Tarnished who has been exiled after losing the Elden Ring's blessing and the "Erdtree," a tree that is the source and life of The Lands Between. You are the chosen undead or ashen one, just like in previous Souls games. Following the destruction of the Elden Ring, you are summoned to The Lands Between, along with the other Tarnished, to recover the shards of the Elden Ring, reassemble them, and become the lord of The Lands Between.

In an interview, Hidetaka Miyazaki stated: "One of the game's main themes, in my opinion, is how the player, the Tarnished, approaches or treats this new-found grace and return to the land from which they were once banished, and how they interpret and interpret this. Of course, it's not just the player character; there are a slew of other characters in the game who have been summoned and will have their own adventures and motivations. We want the player to figure out what that means for themselves and how they want to start their adventure."

THE LANDS BETWEEN

Elden Ring's world is The Lands Between, and those who live there have been blessed by the Elden Ring and the "Erdtree." Those who have been blessed by the Elden Ring have a golden aura around them, which can be seen in their eyes. However, some of the blessed lost their grace, were exiled, and labeled as the Tarnished at some point. The Elden Ring was shattered across the lands for unknown reasons, and its pieces were picked up by many of the 6 demigods, who inherited various powers and were physically changed and twisted as a result of being corrupted by the power.

The Lands Between is divided into six distinct areas, each of which is governed by a demigod and is connected by a central hub. According to an interview with Miyazaki, players will have complete control over the order in which they attack each area, and how they approach it is entirely up to them. Aside from that, the hub will not be accessible at the start of the game, so you'll have to progress through the game until you reach it.

"The Lands Between is supposed to invoke this feeling of something very mysterious and very ethereal – and we hope that players will experience that when they play the game," says Hidetaka Miyazaki.
